Bahari is an all-female dream pop trio from Manhattan Beach, California. The dazzling SoCal group consists of members Natalia Panzarella, Sidney Sartini, and Ruby Carr.

Their music captures the life-loving, California coastal spirit, with songs that enchant and inspire. These kindred spirits combine the lush aesthetics of artists like Lana Del Rey with the spiritual allure of groups like First Aid Kit.

Bahari Band Members

Ruby Carr (Vocals/Keyboard)

18 year old keyboardist Ruby Carr grew up on the island of Lamu, just off the coast of Kenya. Swahili is her first language. Ruby’s family worked in wildlife conservation and she has always had a deep connection with animals. After a short stint modeling in London, the self-taught pianist/vocalist made her way to Los Angeles to pursue her true passion: music.

Natalia Panzarella (Vocals/Bassist)

Bassist Natalia Panzarella began playing the piano when she was just four years old. She was born in Nashville and her family moved to Manhattan Beach when she was five. Before making ‘Bahari’ her full time focus, she was widely recognized for her much vaunted acting skills.

Sidney Sartini (Vocals/Guitarist)

Sidney grew up in Manhattan Beach, where she surfed and perfected her unique SoCal style. She taught herself to play the guitar in the fourth grade. And by the age of 11 she was writing poetry for her own original music. You can hear her well honed writing skills etched into each of the groups finely crafted songs.

How did the members of Bahari meet each other?

The three Siren like vocalists were brought together in 2013 by Tim James and Antonina Armato, aka the epic producing team of Rock Mafia.

The three blonde style icons had been working on individual projects at Rock Mafia Studios in Santa Monica, California. Ruby had just recently relocated to the area from a South African boarding school. Sidney was a freshmen at Mira Costa High School and Natalia was a sophomore at Marymount High School. Rock Mafia began auditions for an all-girl group and the three rising talents were a perfect fit.

Soon after forming the band, Bahari quickly got to work writing music and perfecting their coastal dream pop style. The first song they wrote, “Wild Ones,”  was all it took to convince Rock Mafia and Interscope Records that the girls were destined for mega-stardom. It was also enough to make a super fan out of none other than pop queen Selena Gomez.

Selena ( who had been working in the same studio at the time ) loved the girls so much that she shared this post on Instagram for her fans. It featured the newly formed Bahari singing a cover of Gomez’s “The Heart Wants What It Wants.”

“Selena is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and not even because she’s Selena Gomez,” Panzarella said. “Just knowing the fact that she would give us a shoutout on Instagram knowing that we can’t return it yet is so supportive.” – Easy Reader News

Where did the name ‘Bahari’ come from?

One day Sidney and Natalia asked Ruby to teach them some words in Swahili. She told them that ‘bahari’ means ‘ocean’ in Swahili. The trio knew immediately that is was the perfect name for their California inspired brand of pop.
